And why is it that if you enter this great jungle of Mother Earth, it could take you years and you would still be lost? Well Fellow Earther, I can tell you that The Amazon Jungle is a wonder of wonders, the gift of all gifts, and the very nature of Mother Nature. Because within this jungle, you will find everything you could ever need to live on, to heal your body from sicknesses, to live in harmony with all the other God Creations, and to even stay away from wars by Mankind. And all because this great jungle called The Amazon is where the majority of all foods, animals, herb, plants, water and even fresh air originated from. And of course you are probably doubtful from what I am saying, because you only see the fruits served in your supermarket, you only buy the drugs at your pharmacy to help you feel better, you only pay your water bill and have water come flowing inside your home, you only see the beautiful variety of animals at your local Zoo and you are quite happy. But have you ever wondered where many of these beings originally come from, along with the many resources that you use?

Well The Amazon and its great magnificent jungle is where many of what you see, feel and experience come from. So let us look at some facts that are currently know about this magnificent daughter of Mother Earth. To begin with, the Earliest settlements were from 15 to 10,000 B.P. (this figure is disputed), and the First exploration by Europeans was in 1500 by Vicente Yáñez Pinzón (Spanish). And the First full-length voyage at The Amazon was in 1540-41 by Francisco de Orellana (Spanish), and the First full-length voyage upstream took place in 1637-38 by Pedro Teixeira (Portuguese)

The Amazon... Why Cant You Find Out Your Way Out Of This Jungle? That is because over half of The Amazon rain forest is located in Brazil but it is also located in other South American countries including Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Guyana, Bolivia, Suriname and French Guiana, because it encompasses a lot of land. And the Amazon rain forest covering the Amazon River Basin is of about 6 million square kilometres and is the world's largest tropical rain forest. An entire 20% of Earth’s oxygen is derived from the Amazon Rain forest alone. The Amazon River basin is the world's largest drainage basin (watershed), measuring 2,375,000 square miles (6,151,000 square kilometers), about 40% of the South American continent. Compared with other regions, this is about four-fifths the size of Australia, over three-quarters the size of the continental United States, or 25 times the size of the United Kingdom. And amazingly, from west to east, the river basin measures approximately 3,600 kilometers (2,240 miles, the distance from Los Angeles to Washington DC York is 2,300 miles) west to east and 2,500 kilometers (1,550 miles) north to south.

Other Amazing Facts about The Amazon include the knowledge that there are approximately 200,000 natives living in Amazon today. This is in stark contrast to the 10 million that are estimated to have lived there over 500 years ago. And three Hundred years ago, there were about 200 Indian tribes living in the Amazon, but now fewer than twenty remain. Many of them have never seen a white man. At least 80% of the developed world's diet originated in the tropical rain forest. Its bountiful gifts to the world include fruits like avocados, coconuts, figs, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, bananas, guavas, pineapples, mangoes and tomatoes; vegetables including corn, potatoes, rice, winter squash and yams; spices like black pepper, cayenne, chocolate, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, sugar cane, turmeric, coffee and vanilla and nuts including Brazil nuts and cashews. At least 3000 fruits are found in the rain forests; of these only 200 are now in use in the Western World.

The average annual rainfall of 130 to 305 centimetres, with temperatures around 27 °C. And trees in this rain forest grow in distinct layers. The trees, called emergents, tower above the rest of the forest and may reach heights of 40 metres. The upper canopy generally grows 25 to 30 metres high

Over 1,500 species of birds, about 3,000 known species of fish and as many as 30 million different insect species may live in the Amazon forest area. It is home to around 2 and a half million different insect species as well as over 40000 plant species. There are also a number of dangerous species living in the Amazon rain forest such as the cougar, jaguar and anaconda. The plants and animals in the Amazon have evolved in such a way that they create a tight-knit ecosystem. Each plant and animal relies on another greatly for its survival, which means that the Amazon Rainforest’s ecosystem is very delicate.

Why Is The Amazon So Amazing? Because currently, over 125 prescription drugs currently sold worldwide come from plant-derived sources. And while 25% of Western pharmaceuticals are derived from rain forest ingredients, less than 1% of these tropical trees and plants have been tested by scientists. So think about it, less than 1%? That means we probably have the full Cure for all types Of Cancer, Aids, Dementia among many sicknesses.

But Sadly for Us, the Amazon forest is being cut down at an alarming rate, which the timber industry uses to make wood products. Also large areas being burned down to clear land to used for farming purposes. Yep, you already knew this was coming, Human Destruction: It is estimated that in rain forests around the world, 150 acres of rain forest are burned every minute and 130 animal, plant, and insect species are lost every day. The destruction is due to logging, slash-and-burn agricultural techniques, cattle ranches, mining, and subsistence agriculture among other things. And so ask yourself: How are we supposed to find cures, and continuously get fresh water?

And let's not forget about The Amazon River, for it has 16% of all of the world’s river water and empties 28 billion gallons into the Atlantic every minute. It has 1100 tributaries and its drainage basin is 2,722,000 square miles. To put this massive amount of water into perspective keep in mind that one days worth of water flowing out of the Amazon is the equivalent of 12 years worth of water usage by the city of New York, that is every faucet, every shower, every toilet and all other combined sources of fresh water consumed by millions of people for 12 years! It flows out of the Amazon every day.... So are you beginning to see just how Great The Amazon Is? And Now Do You Concede that within this jungle, you will find everything you could ever need to live, to heal your body from sicknesses, to live in harmony with all the other God Creations, and to even stay away from wars by Mankind?...
